How Drone Photography is Changing the Real Estate Game

In an article about the usage of drone photography in real estate published by WeTalkUAV earlier this year, Audrey Zhang reiterates the increasing importance of the this technology in the ever-changing real estate market. While she highlights the various, widely known benefits of aerial photography and videography, she offers some particularly telling evidence regarding why YOU should consider using this technology.

Statistically, “Over 90% [of buyers] in 2015 used resources on the Internet to research properties that meet their needs.” Further, drones provide a more comprehensive view of the space and neighborhood previously reserved for the high-end market.

Also, “studies show that using professional photography is instrumental in selling the home as quickly as possible and for the highest sales price” because drones contribute additional value to online listings. Listings with a aerial photo or video supplement “receive significantly more views than those without.”

Although drones have become a widely accessible technology, “hiring a professional is still the best choice. Professional drone operators understand how to get the best shot without infringing on the privacy of the neighborhood members.” Here at Visual Approach, we only utilize FAA Part-107 licensed pilots to fly our drones and capture images or video, ensuring legality and expertise.

Most importantly, “Professional drone photography will help you sell your home faster and for a higher sales price than those without.”

As Audrey Zhang has made abundantly clear, drone photography and videography add tremendous value to any real estate listing. While navigating the legality and quality of this technology can be quite the challenge, Visual Approach is here to help. People Behind Visual Approach’s Aerial Drone Photography

Who are we?

Visual Approach is a family founded company specializing in aerial drone photography for real estate, construction, and insurance.  The business is was founded by Michael Lane and his daughter, Paige Lane.  Paige is a rising sophomore at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study majoring in Film, Marketing, and Digital Media. After her first year at NYU, Paige is applying her newfound knowledge of film and marketing to the real world and help accelerate the growth of Visual Approach. Likewise, Mike has applied his years of business expertise acquired from the success of his own business, Go Packaging, and many other ventures to date. Together, the father-daughter duo has commercialized their love of drones, offering aerial photography to the Greater Chicago Area.

Mike and Paige have worked diligently to get the company off the ground, literally! But how exactly did they get their start? Like most great things, Visual Approach began from the curiosity sparked by a mutual obsession.

Their passion for aerial drone photography originated from their love Casey Neistat‘s YouTube vlogs. Casey is a New York City-based YouTuber famous for creating daily videos which detail the ongoings of his unusual life as a filmmaker. By watching his videos, they recognized their mutual interest in the many drones and cameras that Neistat utilized. As a result, they bought their first drone, a Parrot Bebop 2 FPV.  Almost immediately, they outgrew its underwhelming camera. Soon, they moved onto the DJI Mavic Pro drone and later bought the DJI Osmo, a stabilizer perfect for real estate walkthroughs.

Since the inception of the company, Visual Approach has expanded to offer a variety of services in aerial drone photography performed by FAA Part-107 licensed pilots.  Other services include video editing and marketing to maximize the value of the aerial imaging.
